Mr. Nadol Nathaniel Hodge surrounded by family members and friends

The oldest man in Anguilla is Spanish-speaking Mr. Nadol Nathaniel Hodge of Long Ground. Surrounded by a large number of family members and friends, he celebrated his 101 birthday on Friday, May 13, with a mass sumptuous breakfast. The attending priest was Reverend Menes Hodge of the Anglican Church.

The elderly Anguillian national, who was born in East End, attended elementary school there before leaving the island at the age of 12 years to join the early trek to the Dominican Republic. Like so many other Anguillians he eventually settled there, got married, and established a large family of nine children, one of whom is deceased. Of his remaining children five of them, as well as a number of grandchildren, are residing in Anguilla with him.

Over a period of many years, he commuted between Anguilla and Santo Domingo and eventually returned home permanently in 1998. He worked at the Social Security compound for some time from where he retired.
